This is what I was originally go to write about before having to create a Google account...
As the title implies, this post it going to be about song lyrics. Most of which 'cause me say, "what the fuck?" Though there are some that I enjoy.
I really love Carrie Underwood's song "Before He Cheats," especially the chorus:
I dug my key into the side
Of his pretty little souped up four wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
Took a Louisville slugger to both headlights
Slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats
Although I do love the lyrics, I think her revenge is a bit overboard for just be cheated on. Now if was screwing around w/o a condom, which could have potentially given her an STD (or especially if he did give her one), it's a freakin' great idea. Actually, I think carving her name is a pretty dumb idea if she'd prefer not to get arrested.
Ok, so on to lyrics that piss me off...
"Cupid's Chokehold" by Gym Class Heroes, which is played all the f-ing time on a bunch of stations:
In one verse:
I mean she even cooks me pancakes
And Alka Seltzer when my tummy aches
If that ain't love then I don't know what love is
Ok, that's kinda sweet, but in the next verse:
I love it when she calls my phone
She even got her very own ringtone
If that ain't love then I don't know what love is
Since when does their own ringtone equal love?!?!
"Irreplaceable" by Beyoncé:
You must not know 'bout me
I could have another you in a minute
Matter fact, he'll be here in a minute (baby)
You must not know 'bout me
You must not know 'bout me
I can have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinkin'
You're irreplaceable
I like the idea of the song, it's the just the words she chooses that pisses me off. Saying "minute" twice is redundant, but then in the next verse she says "tomorrow." Which is it? In a minute or by tomorrow? It seems like she changes her mind isn't really sure how long it will take to find someone better.
Finally, "Wasn't Me" by Shaggy:
Honey came in and she caught me red-handed
Creeping with the girl next door
Picture this, we were both butt naked
Bangin' on the bathroom floor
Ok, I actually like the lyrics, but what I heard on the radio was:
Honey came in and she caught me red-handed
Creeping with the girl next door
Picture this, we were both butt naked
Mak' love on the bathroom floor
Ummm...what?! Let's for a second pretend I'm not completely opposed to the phrase "making love" (we'll pretend I use it the way I use "to have sex"). First of all, it's the not the right number of syllables to fit the song, so he doesn't even say "makin'" , you just hear "make" or maybe not even the whole word. Second, this song is not the right context of the phrase. What he's doing with the neighbor does not sound like "love making," it definitely sounds a lot closer to fucking." Therefore, the phrase "doing it" fits the context better. But this too is too many syllables--my solution to the problem: take out the word "butt" in the line before. So a more bearable verse would be:
Honey came in and she caught me red-handed
Creeping with the girl next door
Picture this, we were both naked
Doing it on the bathroom floor
If you haven't already figured it out, the absolute best solution is to "NOT CENSOR THE DAMN THING IN THE FIRST PLACE!" I think I'd prefer just the silencing of the word.
